Membership Information |
Business Categories |
| Business Categories will be set and established by the Board of Directors. A Business Category is a classification of an occupation, which is distinguished by reference to the work or services performed within that occupation and not in direct competition with any other active member. One or more members may represent an established Business, but no PSBN member may represent another PSBN member at a Breakfast Meeting. |
Qualifications for Membership |
| Any person paying the dues as provided in the ByLaws and agreeing to be bound by these ByLaws, and by such rules and regulations as the directors may adopt, is eligible for membership. Applicants for those categories that require professional licensing shall furnish proof of it prior to their being accepted for membership. |
Initiation |
| A non-refundable fee of twenty-five dollars ($25.00) is due with each application. The Palm Springs Business Network requires applicants to attend three consecutive meetings before applying for membership. |
Dues |
| Annual dues in the amount of one hundred twenty dollars ($120.00) shall be payable to the Palm Springs Business Network Treasurer on or before January 1 of each year with a late fee of ten dollars ($10.00) due after January 15. The Network will prorate dues for anyone becoming a member during the year to the anniversary date of annual dues payable to the Organization. Dues must be paid by check only. |
Transfer, Attendance, Termination and Reinstatement |
| Membership in this organization is non-transferable. |
Attendance |
| Regular attendance at the weekly Breakfast Meetings is the best way to establish business relationships between Members. Therefore, while attendance at every meeting is encouraged, it is not required. Each Member is responsible for his/her own attendance. Since PSBN recognizes that conflicting business obligations will occur from time to time, a business colleague from the absent member’s business may serve as a substitute at any Breakfast Meeting. |
Termination for Non-Attendance |
| Excessive absence, which will be defined by the Board on a case by case basis, may result in membership termination, particularly if there is a waiting list for a Member’s business category. Reinstatement will be subject to the recommendation of the Board of Directors. |
Termination for Non-Approved Conduct |
| Any member whose conduct is such that it would have an adverse effect on any other member's business, or the group as a whole, may be called to appear before the board of directors. Any member may bring a complaint to the board regarding unethical conduct in violation of the intended purpose of this organization. Any adverse conduct against another member without justification is grounds for the termination of membership. The board will consider the facts presented by the complainant as well as the facts presented by the member being charged with non-ethical connect before making a determination of membership status. |
Extended Leave from Membership Breakfast Meeting |
| If a sequential absence of one month or more is anticipated, the Member must inform the Board in writing. Breakfast fees will be waived during approved leaves of absence. Leaves of absence in excess of one month must be requested in writing directed to the President, and will be considered and voted on by the Board only for exigent circumstances. |
Guests |
| Potential members may introduce themselves, their company and affiliations pertaining to the category for which they are applying. To maximize time for member introductions, social guests and guests of members with no intent to apply for membership, or whose category is taken by a current sitting member, may not discuss their company and affiliations. |
